Our Leadership

A message from our Pastor

Welcome to Antioch Baton Rouge!

We are a people with a passion for Jesus and His purposes in the Earth. It is my joy to welcome you to be part of what God is doing through our church.

Antioch Baton Rouge is part of a movement of church-planting churches that makes disciples who encounter God, disciple others, and live missionally. We believe that we are all created in the image of God to fulfill a purpose and a destiny for our lives. And we believe that this can be best found in the context of The Church - God’s plan “A” for transformation in society.

My prayer is that whether you are with us one day or for ten years, every time we meet together we would fall more in love with God and His desire for our city, our nation, and the nations of the Earth.

Elders & Church Governance

The church is not a human institution, but rather the household of God the Father, submitted to the lordship of Jesus, and constantly led by the Holy Spirit. Scripture describes the church as the Body of Christ, with Jesus Himself as the Head. While we see merit and biblical support in many different forms of church leadership, this is how we’ve determined to organize our leadership structure here at Antioch Baton Rouge.

The 4 Pillars of Antioch Leadership:

01 Pastor-Led

We believe God calls certain people to provide leadership to help guide the church into its calling (e.g., Acts 19:1-10, Titus 1:5).

02 Elder-Governed

We believe that no one person is ever provided with complete revelation, and that we need one another to discern God’s will. We seek to establish mature (1 Tim 1:1-7) and diversely gifted elder teams (Eph 4:7-16) who will be responsible for overseeing the church as it follows the leadership of the Spirit (Acts 14:23).

03 Congregationally-Empowered

We seek to empower the whole congregation in the various spiritual gifts for the work of the ministry because we believe that God imparts His gifts to each person, and that each person has a part to play in God’s purposes (Acts 2:17-18, 1 Cor 14:26, Eph 4:7-16, 1 Peter 4:10).

04 Externally-Advised

Our church is accountable to an external advisory board for both council and to preserve the unity of the church’s leadership. We recognize that sometimes elders get bogged down in conflict, sin, or a dispute regarding direction (Acts 15:1-2). The outside advisory board is comprised of leaders within the Antioch Movement who regularly pray for and speak into the life of the church. They are empowered to resolve disputes among the elders when it becomes apparent that the church is at an impasse.

We’d love to be a part of your journey with God.
